University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee Partners With MadCap Software to Provide Students Advanced Technical Writing Tools and Support Thriving Technical Communications Careers
La Jolla, CA and Sarasota, FL – February 24, 2016 – University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee (USFSM) is partnering with MadCap Software to empower students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in its Professional and Technical Communication program with the expertise to gain a competitive edge when entering the workforce.

Developing Modern Technical Documentation
USFSM offers the only technical communication undergraduate program of its kind in the Florida State University System, focusing on practical applications and helping to ensure that students can find rewarding career positions when they graduate. To provide students with hands-on experience, the university integrates tools into several courses.
Initially USFSM is incorporating MadCap Flare into its New Media for Technical Communication course. The class examines how new media connects technical communication to larger social and cultural issues, and it gives students direct experience in creating various types of new media, such as blogs and XML-based documents. Additionally, USFSM is considering the use of MadCap Flare in its Technical Writing and Visual Rhetoric for Technical Communication courses.
Since XML and multi-channel publishing are central to new media applications for writers, we wanted to incorporate MadCap Flare into this course. We are excited to work with MadCap Software in giving our students a solid grounding in the practical issues around planning and publishing a project using an industry-standard tool like Flare.
