The MadCap Software Scholar Program Welcomes
University of South Florida Partners with MadCap Software to Advance Sudents’ Technical Communication Skills, Preparing Them for the Workforce
La Jolla, CA and Tampa, FL — January 27, 2014 — The University of South Florida (USF) is joining forces with MadCap Software to ensure students studying technical writing are prepared for successful careers in the industry. Through the MadCap Scholar licensing program, USF is using MadCap Flare—the industry-leading authoring and multi-channel publishing product for print, Web, desktop and mobile content—to provide students with the most advanced authoring and publishing solution available today.
USF is dedicated to enriching the experiences of students in its Professional Writing, Rhetoric & Technology program with leading technical communications tools and practices that will give them a competitive advantage when entering the workforce. The university is incorporating MadCap Flare into its “Advanced Technical Writing” course. Students enrolled in the class will be able to take advantage of Flare for completing hands-on projects that put concepts—such as topic-based authoring, the use of cascading style sheets, and single-source publishing—into practice. Ultimately, students will be able to generate different project outputs for print, online and mobile.
We are incorporating Flare so that we can give our technical writing students the most professional experience possible prior to entering the job market. Flare’s emphasis on preparing documents for multiple audiences and mediums makes it an extremely useful teaching tool. Flare also has an incredible Help system with a surprising amount of clever video tutorials, so I’m confident my students will be able to make the most of it.
Dr. Mark H. Leahy | Instructor in the Professional Writing, Rhetoric & Technology program, University of South Florida
“We are thrilled by USF’s adoption of MadCap Flare to enrich its course structure and support the real-world demands facing technical communications professionals today,” said Anthony Olivier, MadCap founder and CEO. “Through this partnership we can empower students to strengthen their knowledge of technical writing best practices and help ensure a competitive advantage as they pursue their careers.”
