MadCap Mimic Feature List

• Project-Oriented, Single-Source Workflow

  A Mimic project can contain one or more Mimic movies. You can reuse the project to output a single movie, or you can connect several movies together giving the appearance of a single continuous movie.

• Branching and Linking

  Your movie can follow a linear path; or you can create branches where the user can move forward or jump to another frame within the movie. You can also branch between movies. Plus, you can set a button object to link to another website.

• Animation

  You can control the timing, visibility, and movement of objects on a frame; or you can record mouse movements including the dragging and reshaping of objects.

• Audio Support

  You can add sound, music or narration at the movie, frame or button level.

• Flexible Interface

  Mimic's user interface is unique in that it is comprised of individual panes that you can move around or “dock” to different areas of your workspace. You can even open multiple movie files simultaneously, allowing you to quickly move from one to another.

• Single-Source Integration with other MadCap Products

  Link and then (optionally) update your movie from within Flare. Then, share variables created in your Flare project; or create your own Mimic variables. Solve your multimedia localization needs by translating your Mimic project using Lingo.

• Small File Size

  Take advantage of the advanced compression techniques and minimize the size of your movie files without sacrificing quality using the Mimic Movie Format (MMF).

• Multiple Output Formats

  Choose from one or more movie output formats such as MMF, Flash, Microsoft® Silverlight™, or Adobe® Air™. You can also print your movie as a PDF or XPS document.
